A group of scientists in Canada have strong evidence that indicates the microfossils they've found are around 3.77 billion years old. If such is the case, then it means that life—which is not a thing or things or substances, but an ambient process—emerged not long after the earth formed 4.5 billion years ago. "Our discovery supports the idea that life emerged from hot, seafloor vents shortly after planet Earth formed," said Matthew Dodd, one of the authors of the this report.

Life keeps getting older.

But here is something to think about. Our children are the oldest humans out there. From a life-history perspective, adults seem older. This becomes an illusion when the past is viewed from the higher and universal perspective of the history of life. What's young is what's old, and what's old is what's young. The older life gets, the younger the past becomes.
