We should make the homeless advocate groups pay for these clean ups, they're the ones who made this mess. Also, a lot of people aren't aware of this, the homeless advocate groups can be made financially responsible for any crimes like murder or rape committed by the "homeless" people that the advocacy group supported.
What's interesting about this photo, is that you have all these clean cut ladies who make a living promoting "homelessness" holding their protest signs. You will never get rid of this "homeless" plight in Seattle as long as you have people making money off the "homeless"
According the the recent city of Seattle homeless survey, the city's welcoming policies towards the homeless increased the city's homeless population at least 30% by drawing in people from the rest of the nation. That number goes up to 50% if you include migration from other cities in King County.
That's not socially, economically, or politically sustainable.
You know whats interesting about this picture. You have all these protestors asking the city to let these people continue living amongst all this garbage, human waste, discarded hypodermic needles, rat infestation, and all these health hazards while wrapping it up in a flag of compassion. This is not compassion, this is cruelty. And these protestors, including that jerk, Max Solomon, should be ashamed of themselves.
The assertion that there was "human waste" on the ground at The Field is false. I walked every foot of the site in the weeks before the eviction – I was one of the volunteers picking up trash. I did not see or smell poop or pee anywhere; the campers were using the toilets. This is important because the allegation that there was uncontrolled shit on the site is so disgusting as to prejudice the discussion. The site was disorganized and dirty, and there was food waste on the ground, but to say there was "human waste" in the camp is a falsehood intended to discredit the campers.
That's not socially, economically, or politically sustainable.
what's your solution, then? you seem to know all about what everyone else is doing wrong.
