I approve of rubbing it in. Maybe take the court-costs money from Trump and dole it out slowly on something that pisses him off.

The next one is harder, sadly.

I'm all for Trumpzilla and his RepubliKKKans paying through their butt-ugly asses until it hurts them dearly. May their butt sores chafe and sting them evermore, and grow hog warts.
I have no sympathy for fascists.

Bob Ferguson for Governor
Jay Inslee for President.

If DC won't come to WA, WA should go to DC.

And take it over.

@1: Yeah, I think this was the only real outcome after the initial attempt was so clearly rushed and poorly thought out. I mean, it had spelling errors for fuck's sake.

So cut out the restriction on green card/visa holders, and the iffy language about preferences for religious minorities, and the order becomes much harder to fight in the courts while still serving the same purpose of giving his base a temporary and meaningless "victory" he can point to.

So, Trump wins.

He gets his Muslim ban and liberals accept it, due to his clever political strategy of first rolling out a ridiculous, patently illegal ban, waiting a bit, then issuing another less drastic ban after he's successfully normalized his fascism.

The second ban only looks reasonable in comparison to the new standard Trump has set.

@5 The president has rather broad authority in this area and there isn't much (apart from legislation) anyone can do to stop him so long as he does it with due process and in an non-discriminatory manner.

This second ban either conforms to those standards or it doesn't.

@5: It would require a constitutional amendment to remove the executive power to exclude certain people from entering the country, so in that sense, Trump will win as long as he does so constitutionally. Of course, an amendment would likely transfer that power to the legislative branch, as there is no developed country on Earth which abrogates the power to decide which non-citizens are allowed within their sovereign borders. It is kind of one of those things that define "sovereignty."

In fact, several Muslim majority countries such as Saudi Arabia restrict travelers from the same countries as those included in Trump's EOs, as they are worried about risks regarding terrorism.

Please wait...
