"Not Today, Motherfucker!" Local marathoner Kelly Herron was running through Golden Gardens park when she was attacked and pinned to the floor by a man in the restroom. Thanks to skills she learned at a self-defense class, Herron fought off the man, who Seattle Police identified her attacker as 40-year-old Gary Steiner, a registered sex offender in Arizona, The Huffington Post reports. In an Instagram post, which has since gone viral, Herron wrote that she "fought for her life" by "clawing his face, punching back, and desperately trying to escape his grip," which she learned at a self-defense class at her work. Steiner, who Herron locked in the bathroom until police arrived, was charged with "attempted second-degree rape and second-degree assault with sexual motivation," HuffPo reports.

In a follow up Instagram post thanking local media outlets for telling her story, Herron wrote that she "couldn't remain the silent, anonymous victim- there is a message of survival that is too important to remain untold."

Four-Year-Old from Vancouver, Wash. Dies During Dental Procedure: Grab your tissues, y'all. Mykel Peterson, 4, died during a routine dental procedure at Must Love Kids Pediatric Dentistry on March 10. Peterson's mother, Thmeka Curry, told KATU that the anesthesiologist "gave [Peterson] just a little extra dosage to make sure he didn't wake up through the procedure." He eventually stopped breathing, was hospitalized, and pronounced dead. "Mykel's mom says the boy was developmentally delayed, but had no health problems to speak of prior to his death. To make matters even worse, he passed away on his father's birthday," KATU reports. There is a GoFundMe being held to raise money for the Peterson family.

Burien Teen Fatally Shot by Childhood Friend: Donovan Spann, 18, was accidentally killed by his 17-year-old friend while they were allegedly "playing Russian roulette" at a home the friend was watching. The friend, whose name hasn't been released publicly, got the gun from the homeowner for whom he was housesitting for protection after a recent burglary, The Seattle Times reports. Spann's family cast doubt on whether the two high schoolers were actually playing Russian roulette. His sister, Neenah West, told the Times that her family holds no anger against Spann's friend, a boy who "is a longtime family friend, a youth who has been in and out of foster care and whom Spann’s mother took into their home for a time in 2014 and treated as part of the family."
