A duck truck struck a Toyota sedan on Mercer and 5th Ave. around this time last year, only a few months after another duck killed four people and injured 12 following a collision with a charter bus on the Aurora Bridge. After the deadly crash, the vehicle's manufacturer "agreed to pay $1 million in civil fines for violating federal safety regulations," according to the Seattle Times.
In 2014, 10,815 collisions were reported to police in Seattle, and 186 of those resulted in death or serious injury.
