Black and want to be president? Watch Sidney Poitier's character in Guess Who's Coming to Dinner Columbia Pictures

What Trump's Presidency Is Telling Black People Every Day: The great black American writer James Baldwin noted that the message at the heart of Hollywood's first major interracial marriage flick Guess Who's Coming to Dinner is that, if a black man wants to marry a white woman, he must be a man with no flaws and a brilliant (indeed, world-class) intellect. This is Sidney Poitier's character—the pristine scientist John Prentice. Poitier was playing Obama years before Obama became Obama. Meaning, to be a black president you have to be just like Prentice. You can not be a Trump—a man with little talent, a pussy-grabber, grossly unqualified. But he is the president. This is beyond white privilege; this is white worship.

And more than that: in the two months he has been in office, it has been scandal after scandal. This week, we learned he is under investigation by the FBI; last week, we learned the president refused to shake hands with the Germany Chancellor Angela Merkel, and the week before that, it was reported that one of the top members of his cabinet, Jeff Sessions, lied under oath. Imagine if this were the first months of Obama's administration. The first black president would have lost all support from his own party and been removed from office by the GOP.

But what all of this shows is that blacks are not allowed to fail in this society, if they hope to reach the top. They must be a Prentice. Dropping out of college, as Bill Gates did, would be catastrophic for a black man or woman with big ambitions. One wrong move and you are out. The fact of this must be seen every day in the face of a president who is even morally inferior to Forrest Gump. You will not find one McDonald's that would hire a black Trump.

Patty Murray Will Vote Against Confirming Neil Gorsuch to the US Supreme Court: And is prepared to filibuster him. Why? As the Seattle Times reports, it's not that Gorsuch is unqualified. That's not the issue. The issue is the Republicans did not play fair ball, so why should the Dems. The seat left open by the death of Antonin Scalia in February 2016, was supposed to be filled by a person appointed by Obama, who had nearly a year left in office. This right was taken from him. Republicans just can't keep taking things from people. Taking their clean water, their healthcare, their reproductive rights, their right to nominate a Supreme Court judge.

King County Has the Fourth-Highest Population Growth in the US: Number one is Phoenix, Arizona, two is Houston, Texas, and three is Clark County, Nevada (home of Las Vegas). The areas around Chicago, Illinois, Detroit, Michigan, and Baltimore, Maryland lost the most people in the US. The Washington Post sees in these numbers the renewal of a larger movement from the Snowbelt to the Sunbelt. But the Seattle area does not see much sun. Nor much snow. Where is our rapidly growing city? It's in the SADbelt.

One of the Worst Sidewalks In Seattle:

"The First Responding Officers Could Hear Things Being Broken For More Than a Block Away": When they arrived at the three-story Edmonds home to investigate the breaking sounds of objects that form the consumption fund of a house, they found a naked man on a lawn. The police then saw the youngish naked man enter the house, then the officers saw smoke coming out of the house, then the officers entered the house and found the naked man setting things on fire. The police informed KIRO that they had difficulty overpowering the naked man, who turned out to be the son of the home's owners. The fire put up fight. It wanted everything to become one with it. There were also things outside the house—trees, cars, other houses—that could become this one. The firefighters finally put an end to the fire's big dreams.

Still No Tweet From Trump About Black Man The NYPD Suspect Was Killed by a White Nationalist: And this white man, who was charged with the murder, told the police that he killed Timothy (Hard Rock) Caughman because he was black. No tweet for this unlucky black man. But a tweet for the equally unlucky white man killed by a British Muslim. This white man and his wife flew from Utah to London to celebrate their 25th anniversary and visit the wife's parents, who are Mormon missionaries in the UK. The life of the wife was nearly taken by the terrorist, who has been identified as Khalid Masood.

One more thing you might do is plot some act of terrorism with a pen and paper.

Americans Really Hate Trumpcare: A poll from Quinnipiac University shows that only 17 percent of Americans support the Republican healthcare bill. Bush faced better numbers when tried, and ultimately failed, to hand Social Security to Wall Street in 2005.
