The 2017 Pop Conference will begin with Artist Interview: A Conversation with David Byrne on Thurs, April 20 at the Museum of Pop Culture (4-5 pm, at the Sky Church; see ticket info after the jump). The Luaka Bop label owner and former Talking Heads frontman will discuss his new musical with Fatboy Slim, Here Lies Love (at Seattle Rep April 7-May 28), which The Stranger's Rich Smith describes as a "critically adored disco musical about the life and times of [former Philippines First Lady] Imelda Marcos, disco-obsessed wife to Ferdinand Marcos... Unlike other musicals, you don’t have to forgive this one for its melodramatic, sappy songs. The fast numbers are groovy disco bangers and the slow numbers are touching, tropically inflected twee rock/pop."

TICKETS: Included with Pop Conference registration. $20 general public/$15 MoPOP members in advance; $25/$20 day of, on-site. Includes access to all Pop Conference events as well as four days of complimentary admission to MoPOP galleries, breakfast, and opening reception. Space is limited.
