At a time when Trump is trying to destroy anything that doesn't guzzle fossil fuels, and does not look and move like a car, all of the state Democrats in Olympia voted for $2.3 billion in transit cuts. Seattle Transit Blog has the details, which involve a reevaluation of taxes on cars. The tax impact of the Dem's Engrossed House Bill 2201 is, according to Seattle Subway, "a nice cut for someone with a 2016 Ferrari, and a small increase for someone with a 1996 Accord."

The other problem with the cut is that we are already expecting Trump's government to make big cuts on the voter-approved expansion. This would mean more and more of ST3 will not be built as well as slowing down an already very slow project. (We do not have another station due to come online until after the next fucking presidential election.)

We now live in a city that's gaining over 1,000 people per week. Many of these people are bringing cars into a car-clogged city. We can expect jams and road rage episodes to explode like never before. We desperately need alternative modes of transportation. We also need transit to reach and connect with place likes Kent and Burien—where working-class people have relocated because our city is too damn expensive. Because rent in Seattle is not going down anytime soon, and Seattle is not building affordable housing at rate that's in any way meaningful, transit is the only real solution that can quickly answer the re-Europeanization of our urban structure (rich in the middle/poor in the periphery).

Stop these Dems from making life worse for their voters. At this point, only Governor Inslee can prevent this betrayal by his own party.
