On May 4-7, Seattle House Dance Project will take place at Massive Monkees Studio: The Beacon (664 S King St). The event includes classes, lectures, parties, and competitions pertaining to house music and dancing. Seattle House Dance Project strives to uplift and educate the Pacific Northwest's house-music community "while also respecting the roots in the Black and Latinx Queer underground community," as its website states. SHDP's goals include "empower[ing] the next generation to innovate forward. This includes House, Vogue, Hustle and Waacking/Punking." The instructors—Orb, Sekou, Shinobijaxx, Tracey Wong, and Ron Gatsby—are respected House dancers from New York, Seattle, and the Bay Area. In addition, upper-echelon Seattle DJs J-Justice, Eric Pranzarone, Carlos Ruiz, Riz Rollins, Waylon Dungan, and Joey Webb will be spinning all weekend long.

You can purchase a four-day Seattle House Dance Project pass for $80, which allows entry into all classes and events at The Beacon. There's also free entry to On the Brink: Battles—hosted by Dani Tirrell and Amy O'Neal— at Washington Hall (made possible due to support from 206 Zulu and the Ubunye Project).
