Neo-liberalism has died. Jenny has ignored the memo.

Victory Fund also endorsed Durkan. Hopefully she racks up more liberal endorsements, because if she ends up winning (and...the smart money is on her), I sure hope she sees her "coalition" as including liberals. I'd hate to see this city elect a mayor that is surrounded by moderate/conservative voices.

Why is it every politician has a photo taken of them pointing at their audience?

Anybody But Durkan.

@4 Agree wholeheartedly. I'm going to go against my word here and say I would even vote for a Socialist Alternative candidate over Durkan. Its as if the Seattle money elite is jealous of the GOP in DC and wants to get in on the wealthy-people-are-victims action. I guess we are going to find out if the citizens of Seattle have fallen this low too.

G g @2, instead of trying to wish Jenny Durkan into becoming the liberal champion she's not, why not just consider Jessyn Farrell? She's the one pragmatic progressive who's running for mayor who has a real track record of getting things done (there's no legislator who did more to secure the authorizing legislation for ST3 than Farrell) as an elected official and who easily clears the competence bar.

@6. Agree on Jessyn. She's also a good communicator -- I live in her district and have been impressed with how she responds to constituents.

Durkan is exactly who we need. She's a brilliant woman, born and raised here, a UW alum, and knows this city. Her liberal stances are solid. I'm happy to vote for a warrior who knows the Justice department well, and who has both the smarts and the experience to stand up to that tyrant in the White House.

We need a mayor that can challenge the group think morass that is the city council. They spend more time on obstructive actions rather than actually putting forth a plan and then setting a timeline for results. There are many homeowners and long time residents in this city who feel completely shut out of the extremist rhetoric put forth by Sawant and O'brien and the group think that the rest of the city council follows. To wit: the King County Juvenile Center. The amount of coercion that activists have been able to affect to the council in this case is wrong. And many of us want a mayor to rightly shut down unbalanced and unchecked influence. Durkan can do that.
