@2: Um, the larger appropriation debate aside, are you operating under the impression that it was poor people and/or people of color who coined or popularized the phrase "signal boost"? That one (including the subsequent mutation of figurative use) goes back to the early days of radio and was not/is not specific to particular demographic groups. Example number 8,734 of why I think objection to racist appropriation on the basis that it's racist instead of the basis that it's appropriation is a better idea.
