Indeed, a must see.

As a former SAM employee who is pretty tight with the Admissions crew, some clarity on daily tickets: right now they are offering about 200 a day. They are timed, but they are given out first come first serve, so they are expecting people to wait outside in the mornings to get day of tickets. That line to "get into SAM" was actually probably the line for daily tickets. So, weekdays are probably better. If you work downtown, I'd suggest trying to get tickets before work and ducking out for a lunch. Regardless of how many they end up offering daily, you probably won't have much choice re: entry time. Good luck!

Also: be kind to frontline staff (admissions and security) - they are getting the brunt of angry ticket less customers (and members), managing the massive crowds and inquiries, and working overtime. And some are inevitably volunteers. Believe me, they deeply want everyone to see the show too!

If you are extra generous send them treats. I'm not kidding.

Please don't masturbate in the infinity room or any other part of the museum.

How smart are those tickets? "Advance" tickets. In advance.

@7: I'm glad you learned your lesson.

If only. But alas, I didn't need to learn it.

After much waiting in lines I finally saw Infinity Mirrors yesterday. The art was amazing but the extreme overcrowding and overburdened staff (when there were any to be found) made it the worst experience I've had at SAM in my 35+ years of patronage and volunteering. Glad the exhibit is so successful but when I overheard museum goers comparing the endless lines, strong security guard presence, ever-changing rules and screeching staff to visiting a prison, I had to agree.

Please wait...
