Re: National fustercluck

Like most of us, I've been feeling shitty about the direction of nation after the election. This is why we have to take to the streets and reclaim our country on the Fourth of July in addition to calling and emailing our representatives. If we don’t, then we cede the nation to the sleazy, deranged inmates running the asylum. It's our country just as much as theirs.

The United States is the greatest country on Earth… well, after Canada, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland, Iceland, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Finland, Luxembourg, the Principality of Andorra, France, Australia… OK, we’re very near the Top 20, which is still really good!

@2. Sentence 2 is sufficient. Is Sentence 1 necessary?

" A woman was shot in the head while in a car parked not far from Kerry Park "

About a mile from Kerry Park, actually. You can find 17 city parks within that radius.

What is it about Kerry Park? Did Mudede once see a dog there, or a dead bird, or something?

A news item you missed, Charles:

SLOG has started running advertorials!

This is very good news, this means the paper is moving up in the world. It now reaches enough people to entice paid content from entrepreneurial business people.

Charles you do not get to lecture about how facts matter after spending countless words ranting about how facts do not matter with respect to global warming because the cause is greater than individual facts and facts in fact hurt the cause.

Also the shooting only happened "close to kerry park" in the sense that it happened in Queen Anne and not another Seattle neighborhood. Within the geography of Queen Anne it was not at all close, in fact it was on the north slope of Queen Anne whereas Kerry Park was on the south slope. But then again facts don't matter do they?

@1: Given other comments on Charles's write-up, it looks like you'll be in the minority today.
11
@10 Charles is at his best when talking economics. But he shouldn't be lecturing about facts, as he's quick to ignore them when they don't fit his political view or even when they don't fit his writing style.
12
What's with all the hate?

This is the most depressing 4th I can remember!
13
A shed, er, converted garage list for $1,600 per month? How much for a studio in Fremont these days?
14
@10: considering the company (so far), I'm proud to be in the minority today.

@9
Rejecting the conclusions from a study is not the same as rejecting the facts (i.e. data) of that study.

Which is why there's no such thing as a "factual study"; there's the data, and there's the conclusions drawn from that data.

Science is predicated on drawing, and contesting, conclusions.

That's why it's not religion: facts are facts, but they aren't indisputable.

I don't know what the deal is with the Kerry Park thing. That just sounds wack.

Whoever rents that shed is an a$$hole. Does it even have a bathroom or do you just pi$$ and $hit in a pot? If people refused to pay insane rents then people wouldn't get away with $hit like this.

$1600 for a flippin unfinished shed? Are they high? Its time to get out of this state! Oh thats right, I already did. I live in a beautiful two bedroom with a mountain view balcony, access to pool and jacuzzi all for $650.00 inc. W/S/T. Have fun paying for the pleasure of living in Seattle!
20
@#19. In Butte?
21
Fremont is after all the center of the universe. That being said, $1,600 is high even by Tokyo standards.

Please wait...
