Remember that after Trump dares North Korea to nuke us (and I'm sure that's coming) and a mushroom cloud forms over Alki.
2
@1 oh, shut up you insipid fear mongering shit pile.

Maybe Austin is targeted because it's at the top of the alphabet. It's got a much larger popluation than Albuquerque.

Also, would City Light workers get overtime pay responding to post-nuclear strike emergencies? What's to keep them from staying home, since it's likely to be a tough day at work?

I guess it's a relief, but my own gnawing worry is that with Amazon booming and Microsoft and Boeing humming and the go go go Man go go go!!!!!! growth that terrorists would see Seattle as a ripe and low hanging fruit...

Kim Jong has virtually no motivation to invade anywhere, let alone nuke strike. He gets his jollies by subjugating his own citizens and watching his pretty weapons on parade with one tiny hand in his pocket. Subjugating people of other conquered countries would be far too much management, and let his own slip away. Our own tiny handed leader though, has left us in a precarious position with the colossal mismanagement of federal agencies. With things like hurricane season just around the corner on the East Coast, one major storm would be a total disaster. Or on a national level, basic things, such as getting electricity:

Can we suggest he target Capital Hill? The Amazon campus? Jeff Bezos' house? Mike O'Brien's house. Could turn an awful thing into something really helpful.

Back in the bad old days of the Cold War, Seattle was never really a target. It had little military value to the Soviet Union. Far more likely targets in the area would be the Bremerton Navy base, Fort Lewis, McChord, or the Whidbey Island Navy base.

These days? Kim Jong-un is such a batshit loon, who knows why he might choose any place for a target. Logic doesn't enter the equation at all.

The old SCL Power Control Center on lower Queen Anne was supposedly lined with lead and able to withstand a nuclear attack. It's a homeless shelter now. They'll have to restart Seattle.
10
An ICBM would need to break Earth's atmosphere and re-enter to hit Seattle. That whole burning up on re-entry thing is what's stopping North Korea from being able to hit Seattle at the moment.

@8. True, but four Hiroshimas in the neighborhood would have messed up our day, toot sweet.

@9. That building is a gem. Lead-lined? That must really mess up the phone reception inside.

@10. The warheads are designed to re-enter the atmosphere from space just like spaceships do. Thankfully, Seattle is at the far edge of NK missile range. Who knows how accurate their missile targeting is? They certainly don't. They might launch one here and watch it land 30 miles off the coast at Ocean Shores. Big waves comin' in, dudes!

Bless you Sydney calling to our attention that Seattle has not been explicitly mentioned. However this entertaining propaganda from NK shows their simulated delight in blowing up Washington D.C. - from The Independent.

There's a long ad on the clip, but it's worth it.

Man this stuff is morbid. Remember not to be too afraid, this is about power not death.

About having warning: We may have multiple hours if we see them getting ready to launch, but it's not like we know where it's going at that time or if it's just a test. At best it would be a nationwide warning, not Seattle specific. We won't know where it's going until it's in the air.

@11 It's likely that if their rocket works it has the range to hit anywhere in the US.

Please wait...
