i'm pretty sure that's a cardboard cut-out of Durkan in those pictures. or maybe her face is stuck in that position from all the botox.

Maybe because they wanted to have an adult as mayor?

"Do labor council leaders have any concerns that she's the same candidate who's been endorsed by the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce"

Heidi, do you have any concerns that you endorsed the same candidate who's been endorsed by every single nimby group in the city?

Jeez, first Nikkita, now this. You can almost hear the air coming out of Cary Moon's balloon.

Good for Jenny! I am looking forward to voting for her. She's a competent, progressive lesbian. I think it's great to live in a city that gives me the chance to vote for her.

I'd be impressed if the KC Labor Council's endorsement had done anything to help Hasegawa come in any higher than sixth place in the primary. Bob had a ton of unions behind him. And Jessyn Farrell too. If Bob didn't have them, Jessyn did. Did her about as much good as it did Hasegawa.

How excited to you expect union rank and file to get about an establishment candidate loved by the developers and the chamber of commerce? A union is only as good as its willingness to take a stand.

@6:

The council is made up mainly of rank-and-file member delegates; the COPE endorsement for Durkan was pretty overwhelming with well over 90% in attendance voting "aye" (for the record I abstained, because we represent TV & radio broadcast journalists, who would prefer we remain neutral in these matters).

I don't understand the need to endorse at all in this race. These are two perfectly wretched candidates. The only good that will come out of this campaign is that one of them will lose.

They seriously gave her credit for being "the only one standing with us on the picket line" based on the track record of a strike that began a weeka ago, 10 days after the primary election? Give me a break.

If you're going to end up junior partner to the Chamber of Commerce why bother endorsing at all.

No endorsement by an organization is the equivalent of a citizen not voting for a mayor in the general. The unions all have to work with the next administration and, truth be told, Durkan put in the effort to gain the Labor Council's and other union's endorsement. Moon did not and has not.

She was the only one of the top 6 contenders that did not seek out my union's endorsement in the primary and I know that we're not alone. That lack of effort indicates that Moon either doesn't know or doesn't care about labor. Neither option is a good look or one that engenders confidence.
