A fire that broke out at the former Downtown Dog Lounge on Denny Way this morning has now been contained, says Kristin Tinsley, the Public Information Officer for the Seattle Fire Department.

The fire, originally reported at 8:29am, was soon upgraded to a two alarm fire that brought in a total of 6 ladder trucks from 10 engine companies (including the battalion chief, safety chief, deputy chief, fire investigators and a rehab unit), says Tinsley.

One woman who was outside the building was brought in to Harborview for smoke inhalation, and is now reported to be in stable condition.

Fire investigators are still on the scene determining the origin and cause of the fire, as well as the damage estimates, and will be posting updates on Twitter throughout the day.

The Downtown Dog Lounge, which had occupied the 1924 auto row building for ten years, shuttered earlier this year in March. Calls to businesses adjacent to the building, vegetarian restaurant In The Bowl and vape store Beyond Vape were unanswered. The other two spaces in the adjacent building, Apocalypse Tattoo and the old Bus Stop bar space, are also vacant.
