Charles, what's to say you're not secretly anti-bee? After all, you were attacked by one at Cal Anderson last week. What is your bee bias? You may have a subconscious bias, and the topic of bees itself might be a trigger issue for you...I would advise drinking a fifth of vodka and making buzzing noises instead of worrying so much about erupting volcanoes and people voting for Trump is rural WA State,,,....God Speed, Good Sir. God Speed!

the broadleaf maple forests of Seattle and environs are a direct result of clearcut, urban growth, and constant human intervention like cutting for view, collecting firewood, and heavy undergrowth of newly introduced English Ivy, Himalayan Blackberry, Holly, Privet, Hawthorn, Laurel. The result is a reduction of the conifer trees; cedar, fir, pine, which would provide that evergreen light all winter if allowed to thrive.

My own efforts to reforest Mt. Baker park are guided by a theory of forest management that seeks to eradicate "invasive" plants and reintroduce "native" shrubs and trees, all by intensive human management. Recently articles this this, discussion and books Like "Rambunctious Garden" https://green.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/07/… have led me to another way of thinking about our urban forests.

The deciduous trees that dominate our city are aging out and dying. Recently a large red oak came down in Triangle Park next to the court house, I went and counted the rings, 74, and realized that particular grove only dates to the Cold war era, pretty recent by arboreal standards. A man was killed by a tree branch falling in Seward park a year ago, Camp Long in west seattle is rapidly becoming a no go zone due to fall hazzards, my own reforesting project is about 10 years too late to replace the crumbling forest that currently exists.

I would posit that the time for massive human intervention in our urban environment like the Cheasty Greenspace is now, this weekend, if you wanta have some forest bathing available for my comming senior citizenship. http://www.greenseattle.org/get-involved…

Given enough time, and enough worthwhile stuff people want could be on the shelf, cheaply enough that we just transition to communism without the historically impossible giving-up of power by a dictatorship of the proletariat or anyone else.

Stop Making Sense Charles. I find Bee People annoying because there are so many other pollinators out there that don't get any love - wasps, ants, flies, moths and beetles. Honey Bees suck the air out of the room.

Please wait...
