I'm conflicted.

Raccoons are natural parts of human cities, probably necessary even, fulfilling some key niche in our urban ecosystem, integral to the food web. Living cycles of lives like any critter does. And they are cute looking, with their li'l bandit masks, and precocious graspy hands.

But Trash Pandas have horrid, wiry fur, stiff and unpleasant to touch. They are the #1 Rabies vector around (surpassing bats by far). And they are fairly vicious.

Probably accurate mirrors of us in many ways.

I like my racoon deep fried and crunchy, just like my pals!

So farewell then, big dead raccoon.

Next time make it a selfie with the raccoon, Charles.

Upon reporting a dead rat to the city I was informed that their animal control office is understaffed especially during the summer. The dead rat persisted on the sidewalk for several days, I recall not how many. No flowers tho
