Calling Bush an idiot is seriously misunderestimating him given he got pretty much everything he set out to do while in office.
2
Many Trump voters don't like W Bush or Clinton or anyone in politics.

They voted for something "different," someone who would "shake up the system and fight politics as usual."

Even today, a Trump supporter (not a voter though, she never votes) told me she thinks Trump is doing great things but the media is making up stories about him and lying that he's doing terrible. Also said that he could do more great things if only the regular politicians wouldn't block him.

Trump supporters are determined to like him no matter what happens. If he does good, it was always his plan, if he does bad, it's because the media is lying or congress is blocking him.

You all should realize Trump is going to be re-elected by the way.

Out of pure spite for a previous administration, George W Bush ignored intelligence which could've prevented the 9/11 attacks, and then lied a nation into a war without end, killing thousands of Americans and tens (hundreds?) of thousands of people in the Middle East.

Trump is a racist, misogynist, lying sack of shit, but his immorality and incompetence is no match for the illegal actions perpetuated by George W Bush and his gang of war criminals.

Never forget.
5
I will never forget the needless deaths and the destroyed nations. I'll listen to what he has to say when he's in the Hague.
6
@1 That's an odd way to characterize Bush's attempts at Social Security reform.
7
In terms of deliverables (trillions of national debt, million(s) dead), Trump has a long way to go to match GWB.
8
What @3 @5 @7 said. Do not allow George Bush to whitewash his image. He is a war criminal responsible for destroying a nation and causing the deaths of uncounted human beings.
9
@6 That would have just been gravvy on top of the Iraqi oil boondoggle, the Patriot Act, ignoring climate change, the tax cuts, and on but sure, he didn't get everything.
10
@3, you're comparing what Trump has done in the last 9 months with what George W. did over 8 years. Although he hasn't caused any wars yet, Trump has done more damage to what his handlers refer to as "the administrative state" than anyone could possibly imagine. As far as the wars, give him time.

This is probably the stupidest article I've ever read, even worse than the stupid Monorail articles you guys used to write. So a president can lie, bomb, spy, torture and surveil as long as he's not an overt racist. I hope the Stranger never makes fun of how stupid Trump is ever again.
12
Bush's greatest failing is not realizing that many parts of the world have to be run by dictators for everyone's safety.
13
@10: In his first few months in office, George W Bush pulled out of the Kyoto climate treaty and the anti-ballistic missile treaty, gave tax cuts to his wealthy buddies, and rolled back abortion rights. Sound familiar? Bush was terrible from Day One.

Never forget.
14
The guy is still a war criminal and an all around terrible person. American amnesia is so bad that some people may be lamenting the days of "harmless, clown-President Trump" in twenty or thirty years.
16
I can't tell if this article was written purely to troll and drum up comments and outrage clicks, or if Katie is that out of touch / too young to know better.
17
Almost all ex-politicians look pretty good once their out of politics. Aren't Barack Obama and John Boehner big homies?
18
While people were howling and calling him a idiot and a monkey I saw him for exactly what he was. A neoliberal who let the market run wild just like Clinton and Obama.

Y'all swooned over that monster Henry Kissinger's dance with the Clinton campaign. Get some fucking ethics.
19
@8: Don't forget that he crashed the world economy, then used our tax dollars to bail out the banksters who caused it, who paid themselves billions in bonuses.

From GWB's speech:

"Discontent deepened and sharpened partisan conflicts. Bigotry seems emboldened. Our politics seems more vulnerable to conspiracy theories and outright fabrication."

Amazing to hear him talk about "conspiracy theories and outright fabrication" considering his Iraq's WMDs and Al Qaeda ties to Saddam lies.

This is an example of what my late grandfather would have characterized as "polishing a turd". Others have already posted the litany of shrub's vile actions, so no need to repeat them here. But the fact that we're actually praising him for taking a moral stand against IL DOUCHE is simply another indicator of precisely how low our national discourse has fallen.

Please wait...
