Weed, as American as apple pie!

Weed, you sexy thang. A new study shows that people who partake in the bud have twenty percent more sex than those who don’t. Also, it seems like more and more Americans finally approve of legalizing it (maybe because of the sex thing?). And, damn, marijuana is raking up the green for Washington State, and in the good 'ol US of A, nothing is sexier than money, right?

64% of Americans Just Say Yes to Weed Legalization

A recent Gallop poll found that 64% of Americans think weed should be legal: “the highest level of public support Gallup has found for the proposal in nearly a half-century of measurement,” the survey said. But wait, there’s more—for the very first time, a majority of Republicans said they support legalizing marijuana. But the Grand Ol’ Party isn’t going to become the Ganja Party quite yet: it’s a slim margin, 51%.

The survey though, did have some choice words for Attorney General Jeff Sessions, whom they said “could find himself out of step with his own party if the current trends continue.” Sessions isn’t really getting with the program, though—he’s still taking that “Just Say No” page from Nancy Reagan’s book.

Weed Store Burglary on The Rise in Seattle

One West Seattle pot shop, Canna West, was broken into three times in the past week. According to the Stranger’s weed reporter, Lester Black, the thieves broke the front door with an ax and stole thousands of dollars in weed products. Apparently, there’s been a sharp increase in break-ins of weed retailers since late spring—mostly because thieves assume the stores have tons of cash on reserve (which they often don’t).

2017 Washington State Weed Sales Tops $1 Billion

Wowza! The past nine months of cannabis sales have been very, very good business. According to the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board, the just over $1 billion in sales brought in more than $300 million in excise taxes for the state. Here’s some other fun data: since 2014, 367,000 pounds of pot has been grown, and extracts and edibles are skyrocketing in popularity—with over 8 million products sold so far.

New Pot Shop on the Hill?

Will there be a new pot shop on Olive Way next to the Crescent Bar? Capitol Hill Blog looked into it and found that applications for marijuana licenses have been filed for the location under the business name Northwest Cannabis, and marijuana activist John Davis confirmed he has plans for a business there. But there’s a twist: the building was bought in September for more than $2 million by Ian Eisenberg, owner of the Uncle Ike’s stores, who declined to comment to the blog about his plans for the space, which leads CHB to wonder if it’s a Davis-Eisenberg partnership, or ‘pre-emptive strike’ by Eisenberg on the location. More here.

Potheads Have More Sex

Hell yeah they do! Though the study by Stanford appears to be limited to heterosexual couples, it found that pot users had about 20% more sex than those who hadn’t used marijuana in the past year. Women apparently had the edge:

Women who were daily pot users had sex an average of 7.1 times during the previous four weeks, compared with 6.0 times reported by those who denied using marijuana in the past year. For men, daily users reported 6.9 times compared with 5.6 for non-users.

Since the average couple has sex once a week, says the study’s author, Dr. Michael Eisenberg, that could add up to having 20 more times a year: “I think if you asked a man or a woman, 20 more times to have sex over a year, that would seem like a lot,” Eisenberg said. Um, Michael, have you ever even seen Tindr?
