Since I was sick yesterday, I almost missed this… but, as they say, better late than never! And that saying couldn’t be truer for the lucky, lucky fans at New York City’s renowned venue The Kitchen when Kathleen Hanna, Tobi Vail, and Kathi Wilcox reunited to bring back the gift of feminist punk that just keeps on giving—performing with their band Bikini Kill, on stage, for the first time since 1997.

They only played one song—“For Tammy Rae” from 1996’s Pussy Whipped (dedicated to Mr. Lady Records co-founder Tammy Rae Carland). This far-too-brief reunion happened to celebrate the release of Pitchfork editor Jenn Pelly’s new 33 1/3 book about the Raincoats’ debut album. (Although Pelly said she “had no idea this was going to happen.”)

Could an actual, more substantial Bikini Kill reunion be in the works? Who knows. Last year, Hannah's other band Le Tigre reunited to make this sort of silly but loveable video featuring cats and protest footage to get out the word about voting for Hillary Clinton:

The vid was released on October 24, 2016, back when we had no idea what we were actually in for.

Shit...now I’m depressed again.
