Celeb Has Gene Simmons Ever Shut Up About Being Straight?

Adam Lambert opened up about his sexuality for a Rolling Stone cover story this week—confirming that he's gay after weeks of fan speculation—but at least one person wishes he would shut up about it already: Kiss rocker Gene Simmons.Lambert performed with Kiss on the "American Idol" finale show and while Simmons is a fan of his voice, saying Adam has, "a future if he wants to sing in Queen or be on Broadway," in a recent TV interview... "Mostly he should shut up about his sexual preferences. We, America, the rest of the world, really don’t care," Simmons said, adding, "I mean, if the story becomes ‘I prefer farm animals to,’ you know, who cares?"
Because being gay is a lot like fucking farm animals—hey, does Gene Simmons work for Obama's Department of Justice?

This is the 21st century. I don't understand why anybody would still care about what Gene Simmons (or any member of KISS, for that matter) has to say. About anything.

I already know Gene Simmons's opinions on straight sex, as articulated in Kiss songs like "Let's Put the X in Sex," "Christine Sixteen," and "Lick it Up." But where does he stand on the issue of American Idol contestants' sexuality?

First off, KISS is horrible and so is Gene Simmons!
Second, I don't pay attention to American Idol or its participants, so I don't know how much focus has been put on Lambert's sexual orientation. However, it didn't seem like Gene Simmons' message was mean-spirited. I think the point is, that it doesn't matter what this kids sexual orientation is. The focus should be on his singing.
Sure, comparing homosexuality to beastiality is completely assinine, but I think his point was that it really shouldn't matter what this kid does in his spare time. His singing is all America should care about.
With all that said, Gene Simmons is huge douchebag who is much more famous for extracurriculars than his musical abilities. So, yes, that does make him a hypocrit. Just maybe not a hateful one.

I feel sorry for Adam Lambert...for one thing, the dude was already out of the closet; he just PUBLICLY came out in the media. Everyone made a big, fucking deal about his sexuality during Idol and demanded that he say something and now that's he's publicly made his statement, an old dirty scrotum that no one gives a fuck about has to shit on his parade.

A bit off-topic. I admit to watching the show several times this year, and loved Lambert (I know... don't hurt me), but his WORST MOMENT was, unfortunately, also his LAST, which he performed with KISS. That music was pure crap (and he had a hard time even being heard above the wagging tongue -- I mean, okay, we know you have a large tongue already!), and it's a shame that the producers placed Adam with them. Perhaps he could now give KISS some advice?

I'd be hard pressed to defend Gene on anything but I don't think he was comparing homosexuality to beastiality, he was contrasting them. He basically said in a dim-witted Gene way the homosex=no big deal=normal, beastiality=big deal=not normal. But yeah he probably should have just said nothing.

I think this is a pretty good example of a person clinging to his long gone psuedo-fame by commenting on anything that will get said comment into print. I mean, if he were commenting on his own homelife or the war on terror, would anyone care? Much less pay attention to it. Like Miss CA and Octomom this is a "just don't look" and it will go away on its own situation.

Kiss actually wrote some pretty good songs back in the day. If they had died in a plane crash in say, 1979, they would probably be rock legends to this day. That said, Gene has run his schtick into the ground so far it's come out the other side in India, and Paul Stanley needs to come out of the closet already. Maybe that's what Gene's really insecure about.

Gene Simmons is all washed up, that's why he is talking about Adam like that, for publicity. Adam is the most talented guy I've seen in years and has a great personality, that is very rare to find these days. Love you Adam
