Year One: I Saw It

It is not good:

Year One is one of those “take a dump” comedies that’s so popular in Hollywood these days—you know, where they just “take” some funny actors and “dump” them into a craaazy situation and have them play themselves. Get it? For instance, here Jack Black and Michael Cera are “dumped” into caveman times, and then Hollywood “takes” your money. Get it? Do you get it? Oh, and it’s also like Harold Ramis literally took a dump. And then made you look at it for two hours. That’s the other meaning. Double meaning!

Goddamnit. To cleanse the palate, here's a video of the exact moment when I fell in love with Jack Black, oh so many years ago:

For some reason, every time you say something is bad, then I see it, its not bad.

Maybe he'll do something I'll pay attention to but for now I'll remember his nice side-bit roles in Enemy of the State, Cable Guy, and his best perf so far--School of Rock. Everything else he's done including the above posted clip has been pretty lame, Adam Sandler evolved frat-ish shit--Sandler fans lament his turn to serious acting and instead say they love Jack Black much better. Its true. But who really cares.

I came so close to pissing my pants (literally) the first time I saw Tenacious D. It was a live show in Portland, and I laughed till I was delirious.

Now he's the most unfunny human, second only to Eddie Murphy.

Is it large sums of money that suck all the magic outta them?

The real question is, is this movie as good as Caveman starring Ringo Starr and Barbara Bach? Because if it is, it's a pretty good movie.

The best Jack Black thing isn't this movie - it's the new game where he uses Rock as a weapon and takes on evil using music and the brute force of Awesomeness.

That said, this movie is going to rake in tons of cash.

@11: That means that Tim Schafer is funnier than Jack Black. That is correct.
