Have You Seen These?

Posted by on Thu, Jul 23, 2009 at 12:25 PM

Friends have been telling me about these coconut M&Ms that supposedly exist, yet I can't find them anywhere in Seattle.

I'm sure they're disgusting, like the disastrous peanut butter and strawberry M&Ms, but still... I want to try them. Because I'm a sucker for new candy.

Have you seen them? Have you tried them? Will there be a day I ever stop caring about new M&Ms?

If these were made with dark chocolate, I would hunt down every last bag in the county and hoard them in a secret underground bunker.

I've seen them been sold at Bartell. Specifically at the Bartell on 5th & Olive. I haven't tried them yet, but they look good!

The Fred Meyer on Lake City (at 130th) had them on Monday, according to a friend who went looking.

I've had them (but I live in D.C. now). They were disgusting. And the ingredients didn't list coconut...beware!

@4 That's what I was afraid of! I was hoping they would be full of toasted coconut... but I knew M&Ms would blow an opportunity and just coat the candies in artificial shit.

Walgreens will be receiving them this weekend. The cashiers get $.05 commission for each one you buy. Take pity on the poor souls.

Hillcrest, people. Hillcrest. My boyfriend eats them out of my belly button. Coconut flavor is very convincing. What a world. What a world.

The packaging is remarkably hideous. What the hell's up with the sexy-tropical-lady M&M?

I tried them and they were so disgusting I actually threw them out. And I love coconut.

I had them (NYC) and enjoyed the realistic coconut flavor, but also noticed that no actual coconut was contained within that hard candy shell. As my friend said about the packaging, "Of course the green one is the slutty M&M."

regional thing - they have them up in Vancouver BC - and way more fun Brach's than we ever get ...

I've had them in Pennsylvania, and I'm a big fan. True, no actual coconut (I was actually hoping for something like a tiny hard-shelled Mounds) but the flavor is convincing, not overpowering. I like the oversized pieces, although it means fewer in the bag, and the limited color palette (white, brown, and green) is not only attractive but also made me sing "You put the lime in the coconut, you drink them both down" all afternoon.

How can they possibly get away with calling these coconut if there's no actual coconut in them? I don't get it. And I wouldn't want to try one. I know! They can change the name to "imitation coconut M&Ms"! That'll sell.

they look absolutely vulgar to me, but i have a friend who is *addicted* to them. i guess if you like things that are made out of chocolate but taste like suntan lotion, this is the candy for you. just thinking about them makes my stomach hurt.

We bought them at the gas station off I-5 exit 63 (Winlock). They were really good. But, yes, the coconut is just "flavoring" at the end of the ingredients list.

Had some a couple days ago in Boston. They were tasty - like mini Mounds bar bites. But sadly without the actual coconut. Just a small coconut core would be sufficient, little Mounds bites. However, if they were wrapped around almonds to make tiny Almond Joy bites... oooh!

I wish they would make macadamia nut m&ms. The macadamia nut Hersheys Kisses are excellent.

Had I known these were available in my state, I wouldn't have paid $13/lb for them at M&Ms World in Vegas last weekend! Damn things melted in the desert heat anyway.
