Hey, I'm sorry buddy. You can't stand on a busy street corner in downtown Seattle, with your cwazy little Obama-Hitler booth, and tell me I can't take your picture. I can. And I did.

Yeah, I wondered when this was going to make it onto SLOG. I saw these guys on the Ave a few months ago and told them they were making a huge mistake. They evidently thought the attention they were getting was worth the negative repercussions. Ah well. Live and learn.

I can't stand these guys. They were outside my office building last week. Would it be illegal for me to dump a bucket of water on their stuff next time I see them? I ask because at six-months pregnant I can't run all that fast...

I saw some different Larouchies in Pioneer Square a week ago. There were three of them, all girls. I'd say mid-20s. And very, very cute. What's more, I spoke with one of them and she seemed intellegent and sane. How do they end up like this?

In a twisted, Carrie Prejean-esque sort of way, you have to hand it to these people. It takes either cast iron balls or a diseased mind to take a poster like that out on the streets of Seattle, knowing the sort of response you will get.

I'm convinced the reason these people seem normal is that they are normal people working their day jobs - keeping the association between non-democrat, non-republican candidates and offensive kookery fresh in the minds of voters as we head into primary season.

@10 The LaDouchies actually sued someone at UW for throwing a snowball at them so it would probably be a risky thing to do. Better we all just take pictures of them every time we walk by.

I did something similar a while back with a LaRouchie who was set up down on Western. It was a nice Saturday, so lots of people out walking on the waterfront. I made it obvious that I was preparing to take a picture of him with my phone, waited for 40-some people to clear out of the way, and took a few pictures.
He didn't try to stop me, but gaawd he looks uncomfortable in those pictures.
I then walked off without having said a word.

Before ANYONE starts having sympathy for these people -- or at least that dude in the photo -- just know that on the Ave I simply asked him what he meant by socialized health care being fascism -- I mean, just tell me what he MEANT by it, and he got mean and sarcastic. And then wouldn't speak to me. I kept asking him to EXPLAIN what he was saying, but he had made up his mind I was the enemy or something, and like the half-brained neo-Objectivist douchebag I suspected he was, wouldn't speak with me, ust simmered in his uber-vigilant petulant victimhood.
After that, I got behind their booth and starting yelling "LaRouche for Fuher!" for awhile, pretending to represent them. That was kind of fun. But it didn't even make anyone care any more than they already were(n't).

According to WA state law, anyone can take your picture if you are in public, regardless of your (lack of) consent. Wouldn't it be cool if a flash mob descended on this pair and 500 people ended up taking their picture? I can dream.

What exactly are these nutty folks promoting? I used to see them every few days for years in downtown Montreal. I thought maybe they made absolutely no sense because their signs were in French, but the poster en anglais doesn't really provide more clarity.

Chris in Vancouver -- yeah, damn right, that's why I was asking what he was ranting on about. And then he wouldn't explain their position and the two women he was with fell in line. They wanted to provoke, which is cool, but politics and conspiracy theory are a lot more interesting if people are actually willing to have a dialogue with you about it. Instead, they just wanted to have a negative presence in my community and feel like martyrs, perversely.

Weird - 20 years ago when I was about their age and in college at the UW, LaDouchebags all looked like 40 to 50-something overweight lunatic right-wing white guys who lived in their mother's basements, and now they're all look like refugees from a Dave Matthews concert.
