Silly, Silly LaRouchie

Posted by on Thu, Jul 23, 2009 at 4:19 PM

Hey, I'm sorry buddy. You can't stand on a busy street corner in downtown Seattle, with your cwazy little Obama-Hitler booth, and tell me I can't take your picture. I can. And I did.

Yeah, I wondered when this was going to make it onto SLOG. I saw these guys on the Ave a few months ago and told them they were making a huge mistake. They evidently thought the attention they were getting was worth the negative repercussions. Ah well. Live and learn.

Lyndon LaRouche served years in prison for fraud. In fact, he even tried to run for prezzy from prison.

The sanity of these individuals and their devotion to this man must be questioned. If they are not paid, are they just plain angry nutso?

They should draw some devil horns on that Obama poster to go with the stache. I remember when LaRouche predicted a nuclear war in 1999 based on secret information that somehow he was able to access.

I saw some different Larouchies in Pioneer Square a week ago. There were three of them, all girls. I'd say mid-20s. And very, very cute. What's more, I spoke with one of them and she seemed intellegent and sane. How do they end up like this?

In a twisted, Carrie Prejean-esque sort of way, you have to hand it to these people. It takes either cast iron balls or a diseased mind to take a poster like that out on the streets of Seattle, knowing the sort of response you will get.

I'm convinced the reason these people seem normal is that they are normal people working their day jobs - keeping the association between non-democrat, non-republican candidates and offensive kookery fresh in the minds of voters as we head into primary season.

Would not be surprised at all to learn that larouchepac was funded jointly by the DNC and RNC

I did something similar a while back with a LaRouchie who was set up down on Western. It was a nice Saturday, so lots of people out walking on the waterfront. I made it obvious that I was preparing to take a picture of him with my phone, waited for 40-some people to clear out of the way, and took a few pictures.

He didn't try to stop me, but gaawd he looks uncomfortable in those pictures.

I then walked off without having said a word.

@10: It would be vandalism, at the very least. They do have the same freedom of speech as everyone else. The answer is to mock them and make them uncomfortable, not to threaten their persons or property.

... to top all of it ... they are totally, completely, frothing homophobes ...

and have been so for 20 years, and yes, he did go to prison for extorting elderly folks via their credit cards -- oh yes, a noble leader of the pig world --

Challenge: Once a few years back, on Broadway, I just kicked the table over and walked on ... shouting at them very loudly about their homophobia. It was a good day, left me feeling very American and very proud queer.

So, Challenge - kick the table over and tell they they are fucking homophobes, which they are. Chant -"Silence equals Death" - as you do so. (great Act Up slogan)

Great job with the pix!

Before ANYONE starts having sympathy for these people -- or at least that dude in the photo -- just know that on the Ave I simply asked him what he meant by socialized health care being fascism -- I mean, just tell me what he MEANT by it, and he got mean and sarcastic. And then wouldn't speak to me. I kept asking him to EXPLAIN what he was saying, but he had made up his mind I was the enemy or something, and like the half-brained neo-Objectivist douchebag I suspected he was, wouldn't speak with me, ust simmered in his uber-vigilant petulant victimhood.

After that, I got behind their booth and starting yelling "LaRouche for Fuher!" for awhile, pretending to represent them. That was kind of fun. But it didn't even make anyone care any more than they already were(n't).

#3 I thought it was Chaplin too:
Hope... I'm sorry but I don't want to be an Emperor - that's not my business - I don't want to rule or conquer anyone. I should like to help everyone if possible, Jew, gentile, black man, white. We all want to help one another, human beings are like that.

We all want to live by each other's happiness, not by each other's misery. We don't want to hate and despise one another. In this world there is room for everyone and the earth is rich and can provide for everyone.

The way of life can be free and beautiful.

But we have lost the way.

Greed has poisoned men's souls - has barricaded the world with hate; has goose-stepped us into misery and bloodshed.

We have developed speed but we have shut ourselves in: machinery that gives abundance has left us in want. Our knowledge has made us cynical, our cleverness hard and unkind. We think too much and feel too little: More than machinery we need humanity; More than cleverness we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost.

The aeroplane and the radio have brought us closer together. The very nature of these inventions cries out for the goodness in men, cries out for universal brotherhood for the unity of us all. Even now my voice is reaching millions throughout the world, millions of despairing men, women and little children, victims of a system that makes men torture and imprison innocent people. To those who can hear me I say "Do not despair".

The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed, the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress: the hate of men will pass and dictators die and the power they took from the people, will return to the people and so long as men die [now] liberty will never perish...

Soldiers - don't give yourselves to brutes, men who despise you and enslave you - who regiment your lives, tell you what to do, what to think and what to feel, who drill you, diet you, treat you as cattle, as cannon fodder.

Don't give yourselves to these unnatural men, machine men, with machine minds and machine hearts. You are not machines. You are not cattle. You are men. You have the love of humanity in your hearts. You don't hate - only the unloved hate. Only the unloved and the unnatural. Soldiers - don't fight for slavery, fight for liberty.

In the seventeenth chapter of Saint Luke it is written " the kingdom of God is within man " - not one man, nor a group of men - but in all men - in you, the people.

You the people have the power, the power to create machines, the power to create happiness. You the people have the power to make life free and beautiful, to make this life a wonderful adventure. Then in the name of democracy let's use that power - let us all unite. Let us fight for a new world, a decent world that will give men a chance to work, that will give you the future and old age and security. By the promise of these things, brutes have risen to power, but they lie. They do not fulfil their promise, they never will. Dictators free themselves but they enslave the people. Now let us fight to fulfil that promise. Let us fight to free the world, to do away with national barriers, do away with greed, with hate and intolerance. Let us fight for a world of reason, a world where science and progress will lead to all men's happiness.

Soldiers - in the name of democracy, let us all unite!

Look up! Look up! The clouds are lifting - the sun is breaking through. We are coming out of the darkness into the light. We are coming into a new world. A kind new world where men will rise above their hate and brutality.

The soul of man has been given wings - and at last he is beginning to fly. He is flying into the rainbow - into the light of hope - into the future, that glorious future that belongs to you, to me and to all of us. Look up. Look up."

Works great for PETA. Though, no matter how nuts PETA people can be (I support the Humane Society) these culties way outrank them. So do the local Larouchites still move into collective houses to better "spread the word", or do they live independently?

Chris in Vancouver -- yeah, damn right, that's why I was asking what he was ranting on about. And then he wouldn't explain their position and the two women he was with fell in line. They wanted to provoke, which is cool, but politics and conspiracy theory are a lot more interesting if people are actually willing to have a dialogue with you about it. Instead, they just wanted to have a negative presence in my community and feel like martyrs, perversely.

"They wanted to provoke, which is cool, but politics and conspiracy theory are a lot more interesting if people are actually willing to have a dialogue with you about it"

Dialogue is alien to them. They are LaRouchites because they've gone through the regimen of locking step with everything LaRouche's written and a general lifestyle conditioning. They are taught what art LaRouche liked, what music he HATED and would not let them listen to, they are also likely taught how to "think". Really, they're a lot like Hubbardologists, only Hubbard had more cunning. I guess LaRouche's personal charisma could only carry him so far before he started screaming and identifying himself as a complete madman. Hubbard did that behind closed doors.
