I've already gushed about this movie in today's Stranger Suggest, but I want to gush a little more: David Lowery's St. Nick is terrific and is playing for one night only. Below I described the film as "an impeccably artful 70-minute study of two kid runaways in Texas. Imagine a nearly wordless Stand by Me as directed by Terrence Malick and you'll get a sense of its tough, sweet magic." This is fine, and applicable, but doesn't get across the film's intoxicating tone, cultivated through long stretches of would-be stasis injected with perfect little bursts of mystery and menace and revelation. And the whole thing is very well-acted. If this sounds like something you'd like, you're right, and tonight is your only chance to see it. Ticket info here, trailer below.
