Going for Strike Four

Posted by on Thu, Aug 6, 2009 at 2:27 PM

The Mariners have already struck out three times in their crusade to stop a strip club from opening in SoDo—losing two requests to the city and losing one case in King County Superior Court—but here they go again. Reports Steve Miletich in the Seattle Times:

The Seattle Mariners have appealed a judge's ruling that cleared the way for a strip club to open near Safeco Field.

The Déjà Vu club, sought by longtime Seattle adult-entertainment businessman Roger Forbes, would operate in a building at 1530 First Ave. S., about 400 feet south of the main entrance to the baseball stadium in Seattle's Sodo neighborhood. [...] The strip club's attorney, Peter Buck, of Seattle, said at the time of the ruling that Déjà Vu would not proceed with remodeling of the site if an appeal were filed.

The appeal has been joined by the Washington State Major League Baseball Stadium Public Facilities District, a public entity that owns Safeco Field and leases it to the Mariners.

Jesus, you prudish losers, give it up.

This has nothing to do with "family friendly atmosphere". The Emerald Queen Casino is a major sponsor of the Mariners.
This is about people spending their money somewhere other than the ballpark, and the M's not getting a cut.

That would be going for a "golden sombrero" in baseball parlance.

The M's should make a deal with the strip club. Show your mariners ticket at the door and get a free lap dance. Ticket sales to the games would go up.

Would much rather have a burlesque place there than a strip club run by Seattle's Most Incompetent Mafiosos, but oh well.

Greg @4, this Club is not being proposed by the Colacurcios.

Isn't the Sodo business association against a strip club, too?

It's not really that unusual for a neighborhood not to want a strip club, is it?

I always wondered what Peter Buck did when R.E.M. wasn't touring.

@5: It's a Deja Vu, correct? Explain how that is not connected to the Colacurcios.
