A couple readings and chances to express yourself tonight.

Over at Third Place Books, Elisabeth Hyde continues her trip through our northwest bookstore canon, reading from her latest, In the Heart of the Canyon, which is about a rafting trip that leaves everyone the same. No wait — changes their lives, that’s it.

At U Bookstore, Ann Haywood Leal reads Also Known as Harper. A father abandons his family, crushing his daughter’s hopes for literary fame. Or does he? And at Elliott Bay, Audrey Young, MD, reads from The House of Hope and Fear. This story comes straight out of Harborview, which if you haven’t heard, is one of the most intense hospitals around.

It’s too late in the day to attend the Wave Poetry Weekend at the Henry Art Gallery, but you’re in luck, because it runs through this weekend. Starts tomorrow again at 11 am with films featuring Frank O'Hara and John Ashbery. At night, readings by Joshua Beckman, Dorothea Lasky, Anthony McCann, Geoffrey Nutter, Mary Ruefle, Jon Woodward and Rachel Zucker.

So tonight psyche you yourself up, read some poems and hear some featured readers at Ugly Mug.

The full readings calendar, including the next week or so, is here.
