For Those of You Who Have Been Waiting and Wondering...

Posted by on Wed, Aug 19, 2009 at 3:25 PM

...the next round of election results will go online at 4:30 p.m. today, and again at that time every weekday until September 2 when the election is certified.

Even though they'll be releasing trickles for the next two weeks, we should know everything that we need to know by Friday. In other words, which of the Big 3 mayoral candidates will be left out in the cold. Right now McGinn and Nickels are only separated by 970 votes with some 50,000 or so left to be counted according to KC elections estimates.

Keep checking Slog, your home for all things politics!

So, if it's all electronic number counts, why the artificial batching of results on a daily basis?

It's very depressing to think that Seattle voters would want someone to be Mayor who hasn't voted in the last six elections. Or someone who would begin his tenure by embroiling the city in a multi-million dollar lawsuit to stop a state-run highway project. If these are my choices, I won't be voting in November.

The new KC Exec numbers show that Hutchison's percentage went down in this drop, with Dow's up a bit.

God I really hope Mallahan doesn't win in November.

This kind of proves that Pick 2 is no better than a regular election.

Case in point, most people voted for "Not Nickles" and then chose from that pool of people.

Yet, because that Not Nickles had a group of 8 people, Nickles comes in third.

What they really needed to do what have a "Not Nickles" Pick 2 runoff and then run that person against Nickles.

Or something.

They're up. AAAAHHH!

Better tell Greg to pack his bags and take his Billionaires' Tunnel with him.

Good news on the Sarah Palin blonde front, though.

Mayor's race is still too close for comfort...Mallahan has a 1237 vote lead over Nickels and only a 221 vote lead over McGinn. McGinn is only 1016 up on Nickels....Nickels could still end up being on the November ballot.

@8: Who is this "Nickles" you speak of?

Hadn't noticed that @10 - good catch.

Nickels is toast - his consultants better start polishing up their resumes and speed dialing their DC friends, cause they burnt their viaducts and surface plus transit modes of transportation around here, and nobody's gonna want to touch em.
