Greg Boudreau's Hospital Skeleton, 14 by 39 inches, made by spray-painting layers of stencils on salvaged wood. It reminds me of what was underway at Cherry and Terry a few years ago.

At Grey, which is strong right now, with paintings by Brad Biancardi and Rachel Maxi, too. Maxi's 4-foot-tall oil paintings Somewhere Near Ceres, California I and Somewhere Near Ceres, California II are unusually large, crisp, and bright for her—as gratingly hot as their setting; my skin burns just looking at them—but still as subtly riveting as her 2 1/2-inch-tall view of the lake from Seward Park or her 5 1/2-inch-tall view of Mount Rainier seen from a freeway overpass.

Rachel Maxi is a gem.

The ways in which she uses light and shadow blow me away.

Whenever i see her work i'm reminded of a show of hers years ago. I saw a piece that was very reasonably priced, too reasonable...

Turned out it wasn't the price for the 4' by 6' painting.

It was actually the price for the 4" by 6" piece.

Both prices were reasonable, just out of my range...

I love her work.
