I thought Obama said the President has to do several things at a time. What the hell are they afraid of?

They're afraid of losing the imaginary bi-partisanship Obama seems to think he's forging by not doing CRAP and folding every time the minority party whines a LITTLE bit.

If he had done this on his first day in office, not only would he have the good will of his party in his pocket, but the GOP would have largely forgotten about it by the time re-election rolled around.

The GOP will not largely forget about anything this president does. Its symbol is an elephant for a reason. If we get good, substantial health care reform it will have all been worth it; if not, the number of movements set back by this presidency is depressingly large.

You know, I wonder if Congress and the President actually spent a little time accomplishing what Obama was running on, they might not have crashing approval ratings.

If Democrats end up losing their majority in Congress, it's looking more and more like the reason will be that they've managed to piss of both the right (who weren't going to support them anyway) and the left and center (because of their spinelessness).

Do you see in the NYT that Obama is considering tax cuts and tax credits to stimulate job growth?
Obama is ten times the President McCain would have been....

But wouldn't a big congressional debate on DADT have been a lovely distraction from health care reform for the tea baggers?

We might have been able to slip something by them during all the shrieking about the gays.

The more and more I look at Obama's inaction juxtaposed with his promise of change, the more I feel cheated and betrayed by him. Bush was poisoning our waters and feeding the rich from day one, and when it finally becomes our turn, when we the people finally said enough! we get Mr. Fierce.

Y'know, I'm beginning to think it wouldn't be a bad thing after all if some right-wing nut-job did explode his head with a .308 HEAP round at .8KM with a 15° declination. Maybe that's the way democrats work, we have to sacrifice one to prime the pump. Maybe Biden will move forward where Obama has stalled.

I really do want to believe, but I'm not buying it anymore. He could be doing much, much more.

Can someone give me honest reassurance we're not going to just have another seven years of Bush-lite?

I have fantasies, Allegedly and then I remember oh, yeah. He;s in office because of how the other guy fucked over my country.

The way your boys get elected, Allegedly is through jingoism and conning the plebes. And the way we get elected is by the resulting consequences.

Remember, you guys are the torture guys and the rape-is-okay guys and the illegal-war-on-false-pretenses guys and the fuck-the-Geneva-Convention guys and the lie-to-our-children guys and the white-Christian-males-only guys and the Science-is-evil guys...

All we have to be is the ones who aren't.

PS: Betcha I can shoot better than you.
