Side note on the "atoms" story...it's a link to the Huffington Post.

I'm sure a lot of people like the Huffington Post -- but it seems to be turning into an all devouring monster that has a blog post about each and every topic.

What I like to do is go to the Google Blog search page, and, just like with new, surf through the categories, but look at individual blogs. These days, it seems like every third post is the Huffington Post. It's a blog that is spreading like The Blob!

The 1989 quake didn't damage and lead to the dismantling of the Nimitz Expressway---it flattened it, along with everyone unfortunate enough to be driving on the lower level.

@ #6:

The Nimitz collapsed in the '89 quake, it was part of the 880 in the East Bay. I think they are talking about the Embarcadero freeway in SF.
