Last Night...

Posted by on Fri, Oct 23, 2009 at 9:47 AM

...while watching Project Runway... I saw perhaps the single worst campaign commercial ever made. Bad sound, shitty lighting, unflattering camera angles. It was a total horror show. It was an ad for Nick Licata that made me want to vote against him—The Stranger endorsed Nick—for purely aesthetic grounds. But I can't find it anywhere on his website or on YouTube. Did I hallucinate it? Did anyone else see it?

You don't fast forward through commercials? Should we really take you as an expert about our culture?

Yes it looks like it was made by a 13 year old who just learned how to use a computer. Taking the hat off in the beginning? Yeah real classy.

I didn't see that one, but McGinn has an ad that makes me cringe. Black and white-- looks more like it was produced by the opposition. I am afraid progressives are going to take a whopping in this election.

It was kind of black and white.

It sucked.

(and I voted for Nick)

I love Nick Licata and I hope people see beyond the ad if it's so bad. He's proven himself again and again and can always be counted on in the fight for the disenfranchised.
I remember two or so years ago he wrote an editorial (Times? PI?) about the need for some health care reform--and that was long before it was a national topic.

Go Nick. Hearts from me!!

Truly, he'd have been better off with no ad at all!

That grin on his face at the end is scary.

I saw it last night and thought the same thing. There's no excuse for that these days.

Oh, perfect! Only a gay man, only a gay man would vote against a candidate because of an aesthetically poor campaign ad!

BTW, too bad Nicholas got booted. I was developing a bit of a crush.

Dan, when you are out socializing with Anderson Cooper, does he make swear to not reveal that he is gay?

I don't think there would be much point in that, @11. He's not fooling anybody as it is.

Nick Licata brings no economic or cultural value to this city

Yes 12, but he insists on maintaining plausible deniability. I have it from a good source that you can't get within a mile of his Manhattan duplex without being vetted. Everyone in the gay press is sworn to secracy.
