At Large Postcard from Europe, Part III

This is Paris again, not just Europe.
Paris is a vast and interesting city - 30 percent of the French population lives in metro Paris - astonishing - and it can be done on the cheap. The French mostly speak some English, like Americans, love Canadians, and are very friendly. Remember they are very formal to strangers, even French strangers, they expect smart and up beat tourists who show some manners and life savvy.
Go, spend two weeks, find a cheap place to sleep, wander all over, learn the buses and Metro, the subway.
Become working class French The French are very thrifty, they count their euro closely, never shame to be getting a good deal, never..... Just do it.... Just go.
I spent two years there as a student, changed my life. And by the way, if you are gay, it is perhaps more gay friendly than Seattle. Nobody cares., at all. And good looking Euro horn dogs abound in every cafe and nightspot.
100 words of French will serve you well, they are used to tourists and most speak some English, many very well.
Just GO - go do it. Air France is non stop from Seattle.
I dream of the days - still - and yes, I fell in love several times ... and should have stayed ... alas.
