Brains AND brawn! Hel-LO, Abe!

Speaking of Abe Lincoln, have you seen the new penny, a.k.a. "Formative Years in Indiana"? Here we have "a [studly! Look at those arms] young Lincoln reading [see?! Reading is sexy!] while taking a break from working as a rail splitter [tell me "rail splitter" is unequal to "hot"! YOU ARE WRONG!] in Indiana [no comment]."

Elsewhere in bright new pennies, we have "Birth and Early Childhood in Kentucky" (a.k.a. My Cute Log Cabin), "Professional Life in Illinois" (a.k.a. Why Are My Legs So Long?! I'm Freaking Out!!!), and "Presidency in Washington, DC" (zzzzzzzzzzzz).

As you were, fellow citizens.

Thanks for the close-up. When I encountered one IRL I thought he was resting during a croquet match.

Why is there no baby or toddler Lincoln sitting in front of that cabin? I want a cute baby Lincoln!
And no approving Lincoln watching the Capitol go up? That's not a Lincoln penny, that's a Congress penny.
I am sad US Mint. Why no cute baby Lincoln?

is it weird to anyone else that this country keeps changing the design on all its coins? especially coins that shouldn't be minted anymore? the penny was fine when it was lincoln's head on one side and it said ONE CENT on the back, why waste money(heh) changing the coin presses?

I wonder how long it will take GOP douche bags to condemn as gay the handkerchief in Lincoln's back pocket.

Anyone else find it ironic that our most celebrated president is commemorated on perhaps the most useless thing that our government produces (not counting Dick Cheney).

10 you seem to be unincumbered by intelligence. I know what it means. I was glad to see the old mottow instead of In God We Trust.

Feel free to suck it.

@Enigma: The penny with the unfinished Capitol dome on it is supposed to represent the division of the North and South during the Civil War and Lincoln's resolve in saving the Union. If you are confused about it, you aren't alone. It took me a good few minutes of reading on the Mint's site to comprehend it. This isn't really surprising. When the planning for the pennies took place two years ago, the design for the presidency was the toughest to choose. IMHO, the Mint failed in a big with their choice. While the first three designs tell me what they are, the last design does not.
