Microsoft Shareholder Proposal No. 2. (Or, Why Ken Hutcherson Believes "Hatred Speech" Is Hurting the Company's Stock Price.)

Posted by on Thu, Nov 19, 2009 at 5:24 PM

"Good morning," the Prayer Warrior began today at the Microsoft annual shareholders' meeting. "We have been here many times together..."

Yes, we have.

This time the Prayer Warrior—aka Ken Hutcherson—had shown up to demand more transparency about the company's charitable donations, and to warn the leaders of Microsoft that supporting gay rights was hurting the company's bottom line. Among his concerns:

Google is kicking our natural... Am I saying that's God? No, I am not saying it's God. I am saying that the fact speaks for itself.

Audio of Hutcherson's entire address, which also speaks for itself, below:

And God has blessed Ken Hutcherson with... oh, wait, I am not saying it's God.

Wonder how his cancer's going.

Just letting the facts speak for themselves, as Pastor Hutch says.

Wow. Google Wave is pretty cool, but if god was behind it I'd think it'd be out of beta by now.

Why in the bloody f***ing hell is this dbag allowed to speak at the shareholder meeting of a major company like Microsoft? Just because he is a blathering windbag who has a rinky dink church in Redmond? Or bought a few shares of stock? Can I start a pagan coven in Redmond and buy a few shares of MS stock so I can make speeches there too promoting my social agenda? Who the f*** let this guy on stage?

Generally - and perhaps universally - speaking, anyone who owns a share of a company's stock can speak at a shareholder's meeting. When I worked at the (former) Four Seasons Olympic, we hosted a lot of shareholder meetings, and almost every one of them would have a few cranks who got up and said a little something.

Microsoft probably feels that it's better to let him have his say, and then move on, rather than "silencing the Pastor"

I'm sure that whatever "Hutch" said was forgotten by everyone but him and the "prayer warriors" as soon as he said it.

So let's see... according to Hutch, Google is hurting the Microsoft bottom line because Microsoft is for gay rights and Google is against gay rights?

Apparently, Hutch is an idiot:

Yes, and clearly God's abject, unmitigated hatred of Microsoft for it's pro-human rights stance is the #1 reason why Bill Gates is ranked the Richest Man In The World by Forbes Magazine.

Oh, wait. How does this work again?

Ssssh ... don't tell Hutch that Google is pretty much as supportive of its gay employees as MS is. Same for Apple. And Yahoo. And pretty much every other tech company. It sure would be cute to see the religious right try to go the full Luddite route, though.

Google "polishes the chrome". Heh.

http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-go…

"Google Inc.'s new Chrome operating system, which is designed to bypass computer hard drives and work totally by way of an Internet connection, got its first public preview Thursday.

The system, due out about a year from now, could eventually pose the first real competition for Microsoft Corp.'s and Apple Inc.'s computer operating systems since the earliest days of home computers.

Chrome's main difference is that applications and other materials that now exist on a user's hard drive will instead live online.

Chrome will be available, at least at first, only for the small netbook computers that use solid-state drives."

If he hates the company so much, why doesn't he just sell his stock and invest in companies that share his bigoted views?

I unloaded all my Microsoft stock the moment it became pro-homosexual.
