Those are pretty huge numbers for the publishing industry, which (aside from the recent e-book boom) usually moves in much more incremental gains and losses. This might explain why the big two superhero comics publishers just announced that they're cutting the cover prices of many of their comics by $1, from $3.99 to $2.99 and pushing their iPad comics initiatives so hard. Even though comic movies are still (mostly) big deals at the box office, the comics industry is going to have to increase the size of their audience by a large number if they want to keep making monthly comics.
