A list from Travel + Leisure Magazine paints a pretty vivid picture of Seattle: We're the girl who went to prom with a purse full of books.

The yearbook probably said we were voted most likely to write a great American novel, and we're wearing braces in our senior-class picture.

The magazine released its list of "America's Favorite Cities" Monday, and Seattle doesn't come out looking so loved. Sure, we're ranked first for coffee bars and second for levels of intelligence. (Portland came in first in the smarty-pants race.) But Seattle landed in the bottom 10 in three important "people" categories: attractiveness, friendliness and style.

Because Travel + Leisure Magazine lists Charleston, South Carolina as the most wonderful city in America, we can suspect the presence of Boeing money in all of this. But it's impossible to disagree with the opinion that Seattle desperately needs an influx of stylish people.
