ST:

Three bull mastiffs will be held for observation by Seattle Animal Control for 10 days after mauling a 10-year-old boy who had climbed into their fenced yard to retrieve a ball.

Police say three brothers were playing Saturday at Brighton Playfield in South Seattle when their ball flew across the street and into the backyard of a house in the 4200 block of South Kenny Street. The boys pushed a garbage can against the back of a 6-foot fence, and the 10-year old climbed over and dropped into the yard, police spokeswoman Renee Witt said.

The boy suffered large gashes to his head and throat and a possible broken arm, Witt said. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center.

The officials should be observing the boys, not the dogs. The boys clearly need their heads checked.
