Three bull mastiffs will be held for observation by Seattle Animal Control for 10 days after mauling a 10-year-old boy who had climbed into their fenced yard to retrieve a ball. The officials should be observing the boys, not the dogs. The boys clearly need their heads checked.Police say three brothers were playing Saturday at Brighton Playfield in South Seattle when their ball flew across the street and into the backyard of a house in the 4200 block of South Kenny Street. The boys pushed a garbage can against the back of a 6-foot fence, and the 10-year old climbed over and dropped into the yard, police spokeswoman Renee Witt said.
The boy suffered large gashes to his head and throat and a possible broken arm, Witt said. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center.
