Last night brought the new issue of Vanity Fair to my mailbox. Inside I found a look back at the making of Thelma & Louise, an eternal sentimental favorite of mine that I learned could have turned out very differently that it did.

Case in point: Three different sets of actresses were attached to the project before the roles were filled so wonderfully by Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis. Some of these early-and-abandoned pairings sound amazing (Frances McDormand and Holly Hunter?!?!!), some sound perfectly fine (Jodie Foster and Michelle Pfeiffer), and some sound overloaded with talent on one side to make up for negligible talent on the other (Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn).
