New, improved Slog Happy is still in the works, I promise. But if you like booze and books and hanging out with me and possibly some other Stranger folks, I'd encourage you to keep the early evening of Thursday, June 2nd open. It's the second outing for Two Books Enter, One Book Leaves, which is a happy hour benefit for Friends of Seattle Public Library.

If you didn't attend our previous 2BE1BL, here's how it works: The entry fee is two books. Your two books will be added to the piles of books on tables around the Hugo House. For every two books you bring, you get to take one new-to-you-book from the piles. All the extra books left over will be donated to Friends of SPL, who will then sell them at their twice-annual book sale to raise additional funds for Seattle libraries. The Hugo House's bar will be open, and there will be drink specials. Feel free to mingle and chat with other bookish sorts.

The first 2BE1BL went even better than I could have dreamed: All night, we had a steady stream of people circling the tables, debating the merits of books with complete strangers and advising friends on what books they absolutely had to read. My review of the last one is right here, and a FAQ about the event is here. I hope you'll consider joining me on June 2nd.
