So last week in Iowa Santorum [claimed that] two-parent families are always better than single-parent families, then backtracked when asked what if the two parents are gay. “Which one would you take?” he asked. “Sure, a single-parent family will get you there most of the time—lots of single parents make great sacrifices and do wonderful things to raise their children. But it just isn’t as good... Two is better than one.” Asked after his remarks if they applied to two-parent families where the parents are gay, well, then no, Santorum said, explaining “children need mothers and fathers.”

Maybe Santorum—who has a thing for hanging out with dead children—can spare a few moments to explain the crucial importance of having a mother and a father to this kid before the funeral.
