Mary G. Montgomery High School in Semmes, Alabama mandates that all girls wear dresses to their high school graduation—under their ankle-length graduation gowns—or they don't walk with their class. Which ruled out senior Samantha Armistead:

Samantha hasn’t worn a dress since she was 8 years old, her mother Debra told the Semmes, Ala. Fox affiliate.

"We've asked if she could be allowed to wear pants similar to boys, and we were told girls wear dresses, not slacks," Debra Armistead told the station.

Armistead's class walked on May 17th without her. Queerty.com weighs in on the constitutionality of this sad debacle over here.
