The Seven Deadly Seas: In case you were getting nostalgic for Rick's Strip Club and Talents West, now closed after a US Department of Justice investigation for alleged prostitution, organized crime, and money laundering, don't worry! Maple Leaf Life reports that Seven Seas Restaurant is turning into a strip club. The restaurant's owner already obtained a permit but didn't issue public notice because the restaurant is not within 800 feet of a school or public meeting space. But that isn't stopping one concerned resident, decency vigilante Marilee Catero, who is conducting her own public notice by fliering the neighborhood. Catero's flier warns that a strip club could "lower property values, increase prostitution, and increase illegal drug use and alcohol consumption." And Lord knows, nobody would want that to happen on Lake City Way.

Your Talking Neighborhood Jaguar: In less titillating news, Central District News is psyched to report that a former Yesler Terrace computer teacher now writes a serial webcomic about the adventures of a boy who finds a talking jaguar with mystical powers in the Central District.

Speaking of Mystical Powers: Beacon Hill Blog reports that a group of neighbors banded together last Thursday to return a purse to an old lady after it was stolen by a man in a ski mask in the children's section of the Beacon Hill Library. Beacon Hill neighbor Kevin Haag wrote, "Several of us chased him and at 18th and McClellan his ski mask and the purse were recovered." Haag added that SPD officers arrested the man using neighbors; descriptions. "[The officer] informed me that everyone's care paid off," said Haag. "Together we can proclaim that this is our community, and when you’re on Beacon Hill you will be cared for." Awwww.
