Twitter announced their photo sharing service today:
On Wednesday, Twitter's Chief Executive Dick Costolo announced at the All Things D conference that his popular online service is rolling out its own photo service over the next couple of weeks. Photos will be directly connected to tweets on Twitter.com and can be viewed there. Twitter will also showcase the most popular ones on its home page. Videos can also be posted but users cannot upload the videos.

While I doubt that Twitter's deep search functions have improved—it's really hard to dig into the past on Twitter—this photo search should be great for immediate reactions and documentation. For breaking news, this could make Twitter the go-to source for photos of what's happening right now.
