Gold medal amphora!
  • Gold medal amphora!
Monday night starting at 5:30 there's a modern art auction at Pacific Galleries in Sodo, and in addition to offering some very cool lots, some of the proceeds benefit Seattle Children's Hospital. The preview is today noon to 5 pm and Saturday 10 to 5 pm at 241 S Lander St.

Check this out: There are 10 lots of signed Josef Albers silkscreens from the rare, full first-edition I.S Test Copy of 1,000, printed from Albers's famous Formulation: Articulation I portfolio. There's mid-century furniture by Eames and Barcelona, a George Tsutakawa bronze fountain, and an amphora set by Rissner & Kessel—from which a vase won the gold medal in the Paris 1900 Exposition. There are also original works by Alexander Calder, Kenneth Callahan, John Tunnard, Norman Ives, and Robert Natkin. And there's a vintage mechanical pinball machine.

Images and links to the lots on the auction site on the jump.
