Hilarious...

Feel bad for Brooke, though—and, hey, a shout out to the bisexual community!

"... liberal intellectuals, though that group is really only Jews and homosexuals..."

Ah, so true. So true.

Ah, the theatre. Where a straight middle-aged white guy such as myself truly IS a minority! ;)

But seriously, I'm just amazed he did most of that opening number wearing TWO complete sets of under-dressing - now THAT'S impressive.

that was FABulous . . . um, I mean, that was awesome.
And Brooke Shields wins the good sport award.
Was Al Pacino still wearing that headband he put on in 1982?

Who the hell is Brooke Shields?

Last night's Tony Awards were the best that they've been in years. Great strong opening number, strong closing bit - and the duet with Hugh Jackman was also made of win.

It was the tightest, and most entertaining Tony presentation in recent memory. I expect that NPH will get an Emmy nom for last night's show - an Emmy show that will be hosted by Jane Lynch.

How can he do that wearing three layers of clothes?!

Brooke handled it adorably, though. Good to be able to laugh at yourself. That had me grinning from ear to ear the whole way through!

I was watching the 2011 Drama Desk Awards earlier yesterday and noticed that "The Kid" was up for five awards - are there plans for it to move to Broadway at some point?

If being gay were a choice, I would totally be gay for NPH

NPH is the man. and i seriously doubt Bruce Vilanch wrote that. he's the opposite of funny.

Wow, look what little Doogie has become. Very, very impressive. And he handled the celebrity flubs bit with such grace.

P.S. Dlisted had a post on this excerpt later with Hugh Jackman and NPH going at it:

The only thing better than the opener was Hugh Jackman and Neil Patrick Harris arguing over who was the top.

Hugh never rode a life-sized horse puppet. NPH wins.

(and I say this as someone who goes weak in the knees and lets out a little whimper every time I see a picture of Hugh with his "VanHelsing" hair)

What would NPH do?

Be fucking awesome, is what. I love this man.

Carried off like a trooper, and perhaps it's a good counterpoint to all those "Republican politicians' gay friends".

The funniest part, pre-armed with the comment, was that one of the first audience members spotlighted looked somewhat like the former Mrs Agassi's ex, and I half thought for a moment that, if it were the current Mr Graf, he might have had a small bit. Had I been Mr Harris, I'd have balked at the 23 years line.

He gets cuter every year and his talent shows more. Sigh. Sexual proclivities and marital status aside, I have a hard time picking between him and Hugh. Nope, just can't do it.

Jerry M. Ander 26
Not just for gays, anymore. But judging by that number's dancers and the guest singers, it is almost exclusively for whites only.

I heard they asked James Earl Jones to sing but he just said NOOOOOOOOOO!

And what a bisexual shout out it was!

For Extuno, it's in the last few lines of the song. Listen from about 5:05: "We'd be twice as proud to have you if you go both ways!"

They're all wearing black and working the fly lines and spotlights, would be my guess...
