A 47-year-old church youth director suspected of an ongoing sexual relationship with a teenage girl.... Damian Burkhalter of Blaine faces two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct. [Burkhalter], a father of two teenage children, served as youth director at Glen Carey Lutheran Church in Ham Lake.... Many of the incidents took place at Glen Carey, where the girl later worked for Burk-halter, the complaint states. Some of the alleged sexual activity also took place during church-related camp trips or at Burkhalter's family's home in Blaine. When the girl, who reportedly described Burkhalter as a "father figure," told Burk-halter she did not want to have sex with him for religious reasons because she was saving herself for marriage, Burkhalter told her that "Joseph was in his 40s and Mary was much younger."
