Justin Krebs, the founder of Drinking Liberally, joins us tonight at the Montlake Ale House, 2307 24th Avenue E., 8PM onwards, to knock back a few drinks and sign his new book: "538 Ways to Live, Work and Play Like a Liberal." I hope you'll join me in welcoming Justin to Seattle.

Back in January of 2005, when the local political blogosphere was still young, I read a post promoting the Seattle chapter of Drinking Liberally, and instantly became enamored. Progressive politics can be earnest at best, and godawful tedious at worst, and I was pretty sure I wasn't the only one looking for a way to make activism fun and social. So I promoted the hell out of our weekly gatherings on HA, and eventually they grew into an important part of the local progressive scene, where the likes of Chris Gregoire, Jim McDermott, Jay Inslee, Greg Nickels, Ron Sims, Gen. Wesley Clark, Ed Murray, Frank Chopp and others would sometimes stop by to have a beer with constituents and chat up the bloggers.

Today there are 230 Drinking Liberally chapters in 47 states and around the world, and just this year the Seattle chapter celebrated the birth of its first baby from a couple who met at DL. It's an amazing story, so come on by and let Justin tell you about it.
