Today was deadline day for turning in initiative signatures to qualify for the November 8 ballot. As expected, three initiatives turned in well above the minimum 241,153 valid signatures required (one initiative chickened out yesterday).

According to the Secretary of State's office, Tim Eyman's bridge-tolling, transit-killing initiative turned in 327,043 signatures.

Costco's liquor privatization initiative turned in 354,398 signatures in less than three weeks, apparently making them the fastest signature-gathering campaign ever.

And as Goldy noted earlier today, the state's health care union turned in 340,497 for Initiative 1163, which would reinstate background checks and training requirements for long-term-care workers.

Valid signature checks should be completed by the first week in August. Still, the roughly 100,000 signature cushion all but guarantees that all three initiatives will be on the November ballot.
